This year's entertaining and educational line-up will boast a new selection of actors, more finely reproduced sets and a fascinating educational programme of talks and demonstrations. A first for Invasion, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the science of space travel, what makes robots tick, and see how Emerald Garrison recreate the magic of the Star Wars movies.
At this fantastic event from a galaxy not so far far away, fans of all ages will have the opportunity to view the incredibly detailed replica props, sets and backdrops by Emerald Garrison. This year's attractions include life-size replicas of R2-D2, Y-Wing fighter, Scout Walker and Bantha-II cargo skiff from Return of the Jedi. This year's sets include the Emperor's throne room from the Death Star and the famous Mos Eisley Cantina.
A cast of intergalactic heroes and villains from storm troopers to alien musicians will be on hand to perform re-enactments, and the Jedi Academy will be open to give guidance to young padwans. Visitors will be able to view memorabilia, costumes, toys, and buy merchandise like toys, comics, books and DVDs.
Since coming to Dublin three years ago Invasion has become a destination event where actors from the Star Wars movies flock to meet and greet fans. So far for 2012, long-time Invasion supporter Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) has confirmed his return. He will be joined by new arrival Mike Edmonds (Logray), who fans will also remember from his roles in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Flash Gordon, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Time Bandits. Watch this space for further cast announcements!
According to John McDonald, organiser of Invasion Dublin: "Nowhere else in the world will you ever be able to fulfill your Star Wars dreams.... sitting side by side with the Emperor himself. There were two Invasion events last year, each one attracting over 12,000 visitors who witnessed the craftsmanship of the props and the detail and quality of the costumes. This is the third year of Invasion Dublin and we're very excited about some of the educational talks and demonstrations this year."
Tickets for Invasion Dublin (with up to 50% off from last year) are on sale now from www.Invasion.ie/tickets. Invasion continues its support for Irish Autism Action.
