JACK & THE BEANSTALK

ONE GIANT LEAP FOR PANTOMIMES

The Christmas 2010 Pantomime Extravaganza at The Helix

JACK:  I had a dream.
DAME:  So did Martin Luther King, son, but I doubt it involved giant trees growing in his front garden!!

Special Opening Performance: 4pm, Sunday 28th November 2010
Season: Nov 26, 2010 - Jan 16, 2011

Presented by Theatreworx Productions & The Helix

TheatreworX Productions return to The Helix this Christmas to present their hilarious version of "Jack & the Beanstalk".

With George McMahon (aka loveable rogue Mondo from Fair City) as Jack, Emma Warren (from BBC's "Over the Rainbow" and Irish dancing champion) as Jill, a brilliant script that name-checks everyone from GaGa to Karen Coster and Dublin's latest superhero "Unbelievable Man", this side-splittingly funny family pantomime, set in the wonderfully named town of Ballybrutal, will have you leaving the theatre happily ever after. Oh no it won't! Oh yes it will.

For the ideal family outing, The Helix is creating a very special Winter Wonderland experience this Christmas. There's a special Christmas Grotto, a new restaurant serving delicious family meals, and car parking on site.

Cast

In addition to George and Emma, the production also features West End musical theatre performer Eoin Cannon as Lord Flatulan't.  Eoin played Michael Collins in the 2009 production of Michael Collins The Musical. And the hilarious comic duo of Paul Purcell and Aidan Mannion return after their star turn as The Ugly Sisters in the 2009 Helix Pantomime Cinderella. A chorus of 24 young performers aged 6 - 12 years will be learning their craft onstage alongside the seasoned performers.

Production Team

Now here's a story......

Leixlip -born Claire Tighe is a dynamic young businesswoman who was born into the theatre and whose family are a huge factor in her success.  Working as a dance teacher since her teens, she studied with LAMDA( London Academy of Dramatic Art) and began "Claire Tighe TheatreworX" for dance, drama and musical theatre in 2000. Her family all have day jobs, but her mother and father are both directors of Theatreworx Productions Ltd, and her brother Ciaran has been her right hand man since the beginning. Her other brothers Eoin & Brian help out too. Her mother Rita, a driving force, does a fantastic job of coordinating the costumes for all her productions.

Theatreworx includes a Stage School (over 350 students), an Academy @ The Helix (opening Sept 2010 for students to prepare themselves for post-secondary performing arts), a Production Company (now running its 3rd successive season of the Helix panto) , and The Agency (representing select students and adults for professional work within the industry) is on the way. Claire also produces & choreographs "Wilde Nights" on the Irish Ferries ship "Oscar Wilde".

Claire's close friend of 20 years, Karl Harpur, writes and directs the pantomime, with both of them working closely on the script. This collaboration started with amateur panto for their local musical society LMVG, whilst they both treaded the boards on the professional circuit.  The resulting products were so good that Claire took a leap of faith and convinced the CEO of The Helix to give TheatreworX a shot at producing the first professional pantomime at The Helix! TheatreworX are now on their 3rd Helix panto with Karl writing/directing, Claire choreographing and the wonderful David Hayes as musical director.

"Karl & I are a great team and although our friendship can be tested at times, it's always with the best interests of the show in mind. Our team work results in a fantastic production. We have always believed that panto needs three elements: a love story, fun, and magic, and we create our productions with this in mind."

- Claire Tighe
