The Parade
The Historical role of the bathing woman was to dry the gentry free of sand and water and introduce their children to swimming in the sea. In celebration of Michaelmas Day and to mark the end of the bathing season in Tramore, people used to parade through the town carrying seaweed dolls which they tossed into the sea in a simple ceremony to bring a close to the Summer bathing seaon. The aim of this featival is to bring back this old tradition while heralding a new one - namely to launch the beginning of the Winter Surf season in Tramore. All are welcome to walk the prom with the seaweed doll!

Great family day out including beach volleyball, martial arts demo, kite flying, guided rockpools exploring, lifeguard demonstrations and more...
