On the June Bank Holiday Monday, DayOut were invited to the Grand Opening of the New 3.5million Euro XTREME activity centre in North Dublin.
If you're into ropes, absailing, zip line and climbing with a difference then you gotta check this venue out. Set amongst the rolling countryside of North Co Dublin on an elevated location, the venue offers spectacular views. Don't be too distracted however, as you'll need all your wits about you to tackle multiple obstacles and climbing frames while suspended many feet above the ground.
The venue was well signposted and just a few minutes drive from the Balbriggan exit off the M1 motorway.
It's just a couple of minutes walk from the car park up to the location, it's not difficult and on the day we visited a shuttle bus service was operating just to assist with the masses. The driveway is gravel so bear this in mind if it's a family day out and you're bringing the little ones in buggies to see mam or dad or friends doing the climbing. Dress for outdoors with boots and don't forget to bring a light jacket. On sunny days it is superb, however it is elevated so it may get blustery now and again.
It's an impressive sight and judging by the crowds in attendance on Bank Holiday Monday, other users were equally impressesed. At the new venue, XTREME offer numerous team building and corporate events, as well as archery and paint balling. More activities are planned for this Summer and as it's located ajacent to the Courtlough shooting grounds, there's plenty for avid shooters also. DayOut will be keeping a close eye on this one!

There was an excellent turn out and visitors were in great spirits as they waited to be harnessed up to take a go at the many swings and obstacles. It is wonderful to see investment of this kind in the industry in Ireland and what a great confidence builder for local businesses and the industry as a whole.
