Aillwee Cave
Aillwee Cave is Ireland's most popular showcave and a unique experience for days out in Clare. Learn about Aillwee caves 1.5 million year history and travel up to 350ft underground. Situated on Ireland's beautiful west coast, this award winning tour complex is open to the public and groups all year round. Visits by appointment only in month of December. Aillwee Cave
The oldest cave complex in Ireland and set in truly magnificient landscape in the heart of the Burren in Co Clare. This unique, underground tour lasts 30 minutes where you can experience and explore this natural wonder. Walk over bridged chasms, view strange rock formations like stalactites and stalagmites and also visit the the underground waterfall with its thunderous roar! Keep en eye out for the bones of Ireland's extinct brown bears!
On competion of the tour, browse the visitor complex which has a gift shop and restaurant. Shop and browse through distinctly different craft shops for unusual mineral specimens, crystals, fossils and personalised souvenirs. Climb the mountainside behind the cave to appreciate the landscape spreading out below and walk over the typical limestone pavements to view the mountain landscape. The Farm Shop, where cheese is produced, also stocks jams, chutneys and home made fudge. Free sampling available at all times in the Farm Shop.
Burren Birds of Prey
The Burren Birds of Prey Centre. The Centre is home to the largest display of Falcons, Harris Hawks, Owls, American Kestrels and White Tailed Sea Eagles in the country. Visit and see flying displays and learn more about these wonderful birds...
Hawk Walk
Experience the graceful art of falconry and enjoy a once in a life time opportunity to interact with one of nature's top predators. Following your introduction lesson, stroll through the beautiful Hazel woods in the burren countryside as your hawk flies to and from you, dsplaying superb navigation, agility and speed. No previous experience is necessary and all ages catered for. Don't forget your camera for this! The experience costs €70 per person which includes the Cave Tour and also a Flying Display at the Burren Bird of Prey Centre.
