Carrickmines Equestrian Centre
Owned and run by the O'Leary family. This friendly and efficient centre has been built up by the family into one of the largest centres in Ireland. Carrickmines caters for all ages and levels from complete beginners up to competition level in showjumping, eventing, dressage and polocrosse. Private lessons may also be arranged by special appointment. Corporate groups are also catered for. Our experienced instructors ensure that all riders within each group receive equal attention.With over 80 acres of trekking the centre offers a tranquil setting for visitors to enjoy a ride on quiet well-mannered horses with picturesque views of Dublin bay and mountains. Experienced riders may try their skills over some of the numerous cross-country obstacles they encounter over the property. During the school holidays and mid term breaks we run pony camps for children aged from 6 to 14. The children get a pony to look after for the week. They do stable management, which includes grooming, catching, feeding and tacking-up. Their riding activities include lessons, ride-outs, polocrosse and a showjumping competition at the end of the week.Polocrosse is the fastest growing equestrian sport in Ireland. Polocrosse is often described as ‘hurling on horseback'. It is played with a soft rubber ball and a polocrosse People of all ages and abilities can play Polocrosse. There are grades from beginner up to advanced level. If you like horses and team sport, polocrosse is a must.
