Fort Dunree Military Museum houses a fascinating display of military memorabilia and artefacts as well as an array of large guns from the twentieth century. First opened to the public in 1986 and has attracted tourists from all over the world ever since. It is a must see for every visitor to the Inishowen peninsula. The art Exhibition Centre with Audio Visual Facilities use the latest DVD and interactive technology the unique history is fully explained and recreated in vibrant and colourful displays.The underground bunkers also house a collection of artefacts that give meaning and insight into the day to day operation of the fort. There are fabulous walks with a majestic view of Lough Swilly. This spectacular natural location is rich in flora and fauna, some of it unique to the area. This is portrayed in a beautiful wildlife exhibition in the old fort hospital. There is also a cafeteria where visitors to the centre can relax and take in the atmosphere of the Fort.
