The Dock is a multi-purpose visual arts centre which holds regular performances by musicians, comedians and theatre companies. It also holds exhibitions by local and international artists as well as hosting workshops for children and adults.The Blackbox Performance space is a flexible performance space with seating for up to 117 people. The performances held here have something for everyone; puppet shows, stand up comedy, Greek tragedies, traditional music, and readings. The Dock also shows documentaries and films. The centre also has five studio spaces for artists. Its current artists' in residence are Linda Shevlin, Padraig Cunningham, Laura Gallagher and John Albert Duignenan. Exhibitions are held every month in the galleries with free admission to visitors. The exhibitions include works from local and international artists. The galleries exhibit everything from traditional landscapes to photographic installations and cover diverse topics such as architecture in Ireland, illegal Mexican immigrants in the US, the dying art of frescoes and the pain of a mother's loss. The Dock also provides two spaces for community education and activities, one for visual arts and one for music or theatre and each space seats a group of 20 people. Current classes include Tai Chi, drawing, animation, children's music and a drama summer camp for children. The Leitrim Design House has a retail gallery located on the ground floor of The Dock. The design house is dedicated to promoting and developing art and artists from Leitrim.
