Castle Ward
Superb Georgian house with both Classical and Gothic facades and interiors set in a 750 acre estate with breathtaking views. Boasting a stunning location overlooking Strangford Lough, nestled amid woodlands, gardens and the beauty of the lakeshore. The mid-Georgian mansion is an architectural curiosity, created both internally and externally in two distinct styles - Classical and Gothic. The Victorian laundry, playroom, cornmill, leadmine and sawmill give the full flavour of how the estate worked. A particularly interesting feature is the playroom, equipped with a rocking horse, books and dress up clothes. Children can play with period toys such as hoops, stilts, and tops. Several delightful walks to choose from ranging in duration form half an hour to 3 hours, through mature parklands, woodlands and lough shore areas.

Recently visited this castle and estate, very good for couples, not much for families, but great walks and views over strangford lough, the manor house is only open at weekends. This is a pity as we were there on a friday, it should be open 7 days a week. Great place to visit for couples.
