Portumna Castle is a national monument and it is open to the public from March to October. Surrounded by landscaped gardens, with beautiful views over Lough Derg, Portumna Castle dates back to 1618 and was built by Richard Burke, the 4th Earl of Clanricarde. Inside the Castle, a series of exhibits tells the story of the house and the Clanricardes. Portumna Castle now includes the recently restored 17th century walled kitchen garden.
