Emo Court and Gardens dates back to 1790, designed by architect James Gandon for the Earls of Portarlington. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland and contain formal lawns, a lake and woodland walks with many very fine trees and shrubs. The house and gardens were taken into State ownership in 1994 and are managed by the OPW. Tours of the house available with tour guide only, tours of the gardens are available by appointment. No dogs are allowed and cycling is forbidden.
