I found reptile village to be one of the best Zoo's we've ever visited... AND ITS IN MY OWN COUNTRY! I'm heading into my final year of studying zoology and found this place to be so refreshing with regards keeping the animals in a natural environment compared to other zoo's that i've visited. The zoo keepers that i spoke to had a wonderful knowledge of all the animals I had any questions about and all the animals seemed to be in great nick! Being a reptile owner myself I thought the collection was excellent. I'm a big roughneck monitor fan and found "Vincent" to be lovely and tame creature! Although there is a lack of signs for the place, I did find their directions on their website very helpful! Brilliant Day out for both of us!
very disapointing, from their website they made it look great and as a reptile keeper myself i was realy disapointed at how small it was. there were also a couple of things i noticed that were not right, im not an expert or a vet but i have common sense and i know an iguana will not have her eggs when theres a black throath monitor follwing her around in the same enclosure, i also know that you dont force feed a snake with rats that are obviously too big. there were very few animals here aswell, apart from the small croc there was nothing i dont already have at home. sorry lads but thats my opinion
The Reptile Village is deceptively excellent. It doesnt look like much from the outside, and in a village the size of Gowran, not well signposted!! However, inside is an experience for families. Up close and personal with snakes, lizards etc, its great fun. The only other place you will get this close to cold-blooded creatures is in the Dail bar!!!
