Im a bit of a family camping novice with my last camping trip being in half a burnt tent at Feile in the very early 90's. However I found Lough Key to be very well laid out with helpful staff and all mod cons etc. the only quibble was that the showers were a bit scummy with, for example, the shower trays full of drowned moths etc. It was the may bank hol weekend and insanely busy and a few critters are, i suppose, to be expected when camping
The campsite at Lough Key is one of the best that I have visited. Great for families, with lots of space, lots to keep the kids happy, and is really friendly. On site facilities are excellent, and the pitches are well sheltered. All the activities of Lough Key are within a short walk of the campsite. Book in advance though, as its reputation has spread, and on our last visit, it was booked up.
