Michael Cusack was born in Carron in 1847. In 2006, the centenary of his death, The Michael Cusack Centre was opened to honour the founder of the GAA - Gaelic Athletic Association. The development houses the restored Cusack Cottage as well as the new Visitors' Centre which traces the life and achievements of the GAA founder. Visitors will be provided with a map and information to facilitate a self guided tour of the Centre. Information panels and photographs hang from the walls of the main exhibition room and audiovisuals are also used to tell the exciting Cusack/GAA story. The wall of the exhibition room facing the Cusack Cottage is fabricated from clear glass, affording a stunning view of the humble 19th century herdsman's home and the surrounding Burren landscape.
