Malahide Castle is the former home of the Talbot family is set on 250 acres of parkland in the seaside town of Malahide. History records that it was both a fortress and a private home for nearly 800 years from 1185 to 1973, when the last Talbot died. The site is furnished with beautiful period furniture together with an extensive collection of Irish portrait paintings, mainly from the National Gallery. The castle is operated by Dublin Tourism Attractions in conjunction with Fingal County Council. Castle tours are available in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese and Finnish amnd a Craft shop and Restaurant are also available.
