Glenroe Open Farm
This family-run farm offers hours of fun and relaxation for all ages. Here you can get close to a wide variety of farm animals and pets, including Sika deer, sheep, lambs, cattle, pigs, goats, ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks, hens and chicks. Pets' Corner is where the young and curious visitors can hold and pet their favourite furry animals such as rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs and chipmunks.

DayOut visited in August 2010. Highlight of the visit was Joan at the sheltered rabbit hutch who was very friendly and great with children. Joan introduced children to numerous inhabitants and it was great to see reactions. As the name suggests, it is an open farm with individual corralled animals so you can actually get close. We got some great photos. The 'museum' section is quite basic providing some insight into an old Irish cottage but is literally in one door and out the other, it's over in 5 minutes. Cafe reasonable with interesting archive photos on walls providing a nice browse while you have your cuppa. Playgrounds area is outdoors and consists of a couple of slides which are well used but of interest none the less with the little ones. The nature walk is essentially a stroll along hedge rows and is nice on a good day. Admission was 17euro for 2 adults and 1 child (+ 1 baby free). Highlight is being able to get close to animals, however nothing you have not seen before. Kids will enjoy it none the less. Visit if you're in the area, don't travel especially.
Not much to see and didn't take us long to get around, didn't get to hold much and have been to better farms. Did enjoy the nature walk but were glad we wore our winter gear and wellies
Brilliant day out for the whole family. I have 2 girls a 13month old and a 3 year old and both of them really enjoyed the farm. All of the animals are close to you so even my little 13 month old could see and pet them. My 3 year old got to hold a rabbit and i myself held a gerbil. The farm is only small but there are enough animals to see. There are loads of picnic tables but also a cafe if you prefer to sit inside. If you were a fan of Glenroe then you`ll find the cafe decorated with pictuers of all your favourite characters and their story. We brought a picnic and then just bought coffee there. There is an excellent playground which both my girls really enjoyed. Theres a lovely nature walk for when you`re finished looking at the animals where you can see different trees, flowers, insects etc. There is a secret garden where you can look out for animals sitting in the trees. Unfortunately the day we went it had lashed the day before so the garden was pretty mucky and we couldnt walk around it. There is also an old house (museum)filled with old furniture and toys which brings you back to your childhood. Was a fun filled day for us all and we had 2 very tired girls that night. Definitely worth a visit.
