Ballyloughan Castle

Bagenalstown,, Co Carlow

Ballyloughan Castle was built in the 13th century. It consists of a large courtyard, with a curtain wall and moat. All that remains is a small square tower, the entrance gate and two large round towers. The castle was originally owned by the Kavanaghs before passing to the Bagenal family in the early 19th century. Access is via private land
