Clones
Whether you're a native of Clones, or are a first time visitor, Clones (or Cluain Eois, in Irish translation) is a small picturesque town located in the Republic of Ireland (Éire), with a population of approximately 2500. The town has a unique character and unique local characters! Over the years, the town has produced world famous personalities: Patrick McCabe, author of the novel / movie The Butcher Boy, noted playwright, Eugene McCabe and (of course) Barry McGuigan, World Featherweight Champion in 1985. The town is situated close to the Northern Ireland border and (as a direct result of it's location) has endured much hardship over the past couple of decades. The town is now in a period of regeneration.
