Kylemore Abbey is the #1 day out attraction in the Connemara region and hugely popular year round with visitors. Built in 1867, the Abbey is located on the edge of the beautiful Lough Pollacappul, at the base of the Druchruach Mountain, which towers high above. The area is steeped in history and this building has many stories to tell, spanning numerous generations of both local life and Irish history. Today Kylemore Abbey and the estate are open to visitors all year and the main areas to be visited are the Abbey, the Gothic Church, the Victorian Walled Gardens, the Craft Shop, Pottery studio, Restaurant and Tea Rooms as well as the Lake and Woodland walks.
